Nirmala College Cadets Lead Vibrant Road Safety Drive

The Road Safety Patrol of Nirmala College for Women (Autonomous), Coimbatore, organized a lively awareness campaign on the theme “Road Safety, Life Safety” in collaboration with the Tamil Nadu Police Traffic Wardens, Coimbatore City. The event, held on October 13, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. at Sungam Junction, aimed to educate motorists and pedestrians on the importance of safe driving and adherence to traffic rules.

The highlight of the programme was a series of performances by Road Safety Patrol Cadets, who used street play, mime, and dance to deliver strong safety messages. Through creative acts and placards, the cadets emphasized the importance of wearing helmets, fastening seatbelts, avoiding mobile phone use while driving, and adhering to speed limits. Their spirited performances drew the attention of the public, drivers, and passersby at the junction.

A. Sitrarasu, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic Planning), Coimbatore City, served as the chief guest, while Ranga Prabhu, Chief, Tamil Nadu Police Traffic Warden, Coimbatore City, was the guest of honour. The programme was held under the guidance of Dr. P. Maheswari, Road Safety Patrol Officer of the college.

Ashok Kumar, Sub-Inspector, appreciated the cadets’ creative approach to promoting road safety and urged the public to respect traffic rules and avoid over speeding.

The event was attended by Rev. Sr. Dr. Kulandai Therese, Secretary, Rev. Sr. Dr. Mary Fabiola, Principal, traffic officials, faculty members, coordinators, and media personnel. A total of 40 cadets participated in the drive.

The campaign concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Maheswari, leaving a lasting impression on commuters and reaffirming the message that safe roads mean safe lives.
