Delhi Police seized a large quantity of demonetised currency during a raid in the Wazirpur area of North Delhi, officials said.
Police recovered several bags filled with old Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes, which have been invalid since the demonetisation announcement in November 2016.
Authorities are now investigating why such a huge stock of banned notes was being stored nearly nine years after they ceased to be legal tender.
Police officials suspect that a larger network may be involved and have begun an intensive probe to trace those connected to the seized currency.
