Husband kills wife, dies by suicide near Kundrathur

In a shocking domestic tragedy, a 25-year-old software engineer allegedly killed his wife and later died by suicide at their rented house near Kundrathur on the outskirts of Chennai.
The deceased have been identified as Vijay, a computer software engineer, and his wife Yuvasree, aged 21.
The couple, who were colleagues, had fallen in love and got married on December 13.
They were residing in a rented house on Third Commandant Street in the Kundrathur area of Chengalpattu district.
The incident came to light on Tuesday when Yuvasree’s sister visited the house to check on the couple and found the door locked from inside with no response. Suspecting something amiss, she alerted the Kundrathur police.
Police broke open the door and were shocked to find Yuvasree lying dead inside the house, while Vijay was found hanging. Both bodies were sent to a government hospital for post-mortem examination.
Preliminary investigation suggests that Vijay allegedly killed Yuvasree by suffocating her with a pillow following a family dispute and later took his own life.
Police have registered a case and said further investigation is under way to ascertain if there were any other factors behind the deaths.
