Youth arrested for forcing alcohol on stray dog

In a shocking incident from Uttar Pradesh, a youth was arrested for torturing a stray dog by forcibly feeding it alcohol, after a video of the act went viral on social media.
The accused, Jitendra, a resident of Kirtal village in Baghpat district, was seen in the video giving alcohol to a stray dog while his friends recorded the act on a mobile phone. The video was later circulated widely on social media platforms, triggering public outrage.
Following the circulation of the video, police took suo motu action and launched an investigation. After confirming the authenticity of the footage, the police arrested Jitendra on charges of animal cruelty.
Police officials said the accused was produced before a court and has been remanded to judicial custody. Further investigation is under way to determine whether others involved in recording and circulating the video will also face action. The incident has drawn strong condemnation from animal welfare activists, who have demanded strict enforcement of laws to prevent cruelty against animals.
