Thirty voting machines have been provided to each assembly constituency for conducting the mock polls.
With the announcement for the assembly elections expected soon, the electronic voting machines (EVMs) stored in the districts have been repaired by BEL company engineers, their data erased, and prepared for the election voting process.
At the electronic voting machine warehouse located in the Erode RDO office complex, there are 5,777 electronic voting machines, 3,582 control units, and 3,627 VVPATs in stock.
These have undergone first-level maintenance, and all machines except the defective ones have been kept ready.
From these, 30 electronic voting machines, control units, and VVPATs each have been sent to the 8 assembly constituencies in the district: Erode East, Erode West, Modakurichi, Perundurai, Bhavani, Anthiyur, Gobichettipalayam, and Bhavanisagar.
They have been placed in the control rooms of the respective constituency’s returning officers.
They were securely stored at the Erode Taluk office complex for the Erode West constituency and at the Corporation office for the Erode East constituency.
Once the election announcement is made, these will be inspected again, and mock voting will be allowed in public places, colleges, and polling station areas.
In addition, mock voting will be conducted to raise awareness for 100% voter turnout and to familiarize new voters with the voting process.
