Global e-commerce and technology giant Amazon has announced another round of large-scale layoffs, with plans to cut between 14,000 and 16,000 corporate jobs as part of a broader cost-cutting exercise.
Headquartered in the United States, Amazon is among the world’s largest companies and has been restructuring its workforce amid economic uncertainty and the growing adoption of artificial intelligence across operations. The company had earlier laid off around 27,000 employees between 2022 and 2023.
Sources said Amazon has now decided to eliminate nearly 30,000 corporate roles in total, marking one of the biggest workforce reductions in its three-decade history. As part of the latest move, thousands of employees are expected to be laid off starting later this month.
The job cuts are likely to impact senior executives and professionals across key divisions, including Amazon Web Services, Retail, Prime Video and Human Resources. Software engineers and managerial staff are also expected to be affected.
