Students of Sri Ramakrishna College of Arts and Science (SRCAS) secured the second prize and a cash award of Rs.50,000 at the national-level STATATHON 2026 Grand Finale organised by the National Statistics Office under the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation in collaboration with the Innovation Cell of the Ministry of Education.
The 36-hour coding and innovation challenge was held on June 17 and 18 at Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies in Faridabad, Haryana, with the objective of strengthening India’s official statistical ecosystem through AI-driven solutions.
Out of more than 5,000 project submissions received from across the country, 25 teams, including 21 academic institutions and four startups, were shortlisted for the grand finale.
The SRCAS team presented a solution aimed at reducing the time and effort involved in statistical processing of survey data and enabling faster generation of reliable estimates and analytical reports through automation. The students developed an API gateway capable of running SQL queries on survey datasets and retrieving the results in user-friendly formats such as JSON.
The team emerged runners-up and received a cash prize of Rs.50,000 for their innovation. Managing Trustee Dr. Sundar Ramakrishnan and Principal and Secretary Dr. B.L. Shivakumar congratulated the students for their outstanding achievement.
