OPS stands alone!

O. Panneerselvam, who came from a farming family background and was a tea shop owner, was an ordinary party member of the AIADMK in Theni district. He then gradually rose in politics to become the Periyakulam Municipality Chairman, MLA, Minister, Deputy Chief Minister and Chief Minister. He has been in the political arena for almost 50 years. He is very peaceful.
After Jayalalithaa’s death, he assumed the post of Chief Minister for the third time. But it did not last long. Sasikala’s desire to become the Chief Minister led to his resignation. Subsequently, Sasikala, TTV Dinakaran and others were directly opposed and OPS conducted a Dharma Yuddha in front of Jayalalithaa’s samadhi. This changed his political journey.
In the course of time, Edappadi Palaniswami became the Chief Minister. Refusing to accept him, OPS was forced to fight against the AIADMK at one point. Later, he reconciled with Edappadi and became the Deputy Chief Minister. After the AIADMK lost power in the 2021 assembly elections, he could not get along with Edappadi and parted ways. The person who was the next most important person in the party until Jayalalithaa was there is now forced to fight to maintain himself in today’s politics.
In the absence of a merger with the AIADMK, he ran the Volunteers’ Rights Recovery Committee and contested the Ramanathapuram constituency in the last parliamentary election under an independent symbol to show his strength, finishing second behind the AIADMK candidate. OPS, which has transformed the recovery committee into a party, is in a position where its future politics will be in question if it does not maintain its presence in this election.
With many of his leading supporters, including his right-hand men, beginning to defect, he has been forced to bring together not only himself but also his son and his supporters. While TTV.Thinakaran and OPS were working together, Edappadi Palaniswami skillfully moved the pawn to separate the two and succeeded.
All this has created a kind of fear among those who trust OPS and still hang around with him. Due to this, the upcoming assembly elections are very important to OPS, regardless of who cares about them or not. If the right decision is not made and a place is not shown for it, it will be forced to put an end to its half-century political journey.
Thus, his daily politics is moving in a state of being forced to somehow prove his political influence. OPS wants to somehow join the AIADMK like TTV Dinakaran with the kindness of BJP. But Edappadi Palaniswami is holding a red flag in his hand.
Unable to make any decision regarding the alliance, OPS has become a lone wolf. Will he join any alliance in the elections? His remaining supporters are also confused, not knowing what his future plans are!
