The 12th Graduation Ceremony of Chennai Institute of Technology (CIT), Kundrathur, was held on Saturday at the Parthasarathy Auditorium on the college campus. CIT Chairman P. Sriram presided over the ceremony and delivered the special address, while Principal A. Ramesh delivered the welcome address.
Magesh Ethirajan, Director General of the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), was the chief guest at the morning session and conferred degrees on and felicitated 450 students.
At the afternoon session, N. Muthulakshmi, Head of Strategy and Administration at Tata Consultancy Services, and Prof. Dr. Sashikumaar Ganesan, Founder and Former Chairman of ZenteiQ AI Tech Innovations, delivered special addresses. They subsequently conferred degrees on and felicitated another 450 students.
A total of 900 students received their degrees during the two sessions, including 10 rank holders.
P. Sriram said India’s young workforce presents a historic opportunity for the country and urged the graduating students to excel in their respective fields and contribute to India’s growth over the next two decades.
Magesh Ethirajan said the rapidly expanding startup ecosystem offered students opportunities to become entrepreneurs. He highlighted the growing semiconductor sector and the support available from the government, and urged students to make effective use of the resources and opportunities available through CIT.
N. Muthulakshmi said the continuing evolution of Artificial Intelligence was bringing significant changes to the job market. She advised students to plan their careers with a long-term perspective and develop skills in areas where human capabilities remain distinctive.
Prof. Dr. Sashikumaar Ganesan advised students to develop three important habits: learning how to learn, choosing good friends and maintaining a positive environment, and continuously acquiring new knowledge and skills.
The ceremony began with the Tamil Thai Vazhthu and concluded with the National Anthem. The graduating students also took a pledge at the end of the ceremony. CIT Secretary Sridevi Sriram, Innovation Director Gokulakrishnan, Strategic Development Director Balakrishnan, Dean Dr. V. Srinivasa Rao and Controller of Examinations Dr. J. Venkatesh attended the ceremony.
