13-year-old boy swims four hours to save family

In a remarkable act of courage, a 13-year-old boy swam for nearly four hours through rough seas to save his family after they were stranded in the middle of the ocean off the coast of Australia.
The incident occurred near a beach resort in Quindalup, where Austin Applebee, 13, had gone out to sea in a small rowboat along with his mother Joan, 47, and his younger Srother and sister.
According to reports, strong and unexpected winds caused the boat to lose control and drift dangerously far from the shore.
With the boat being pulled into deeper waters, Austin made a brave decision to jump into the sea and swim back to shore to seek help.
Battling high waves, exhaustion and waters known to have sharks, the boy swam continuously for nearly four hours before finally reaching land. On reaching the shore, Austin reportedly collapsed from fatigue but managed to alert people nearby that his family was stranded at sea. Acting swiftly on the information, emergency services launched a rescue operation using helicopters and marine teams.
After an intensive search, the rescue team located the drifting boat and safely brought Austin’s mother and siblings back to shore without injuries.
The extraordinary bravery displayed by the young boy has drawn praise from across the world, with many hailing him as a “miracle child” and applauding his presence of mind and determination in saving his family against overwhelming odds.
