167 Assistant Electoral Registration Officers have been appointed in Erode district for the intensive voter list revision work.
As per the instructions of the Election Commission, special intensive voter list revision work was carried out from November 4th to December 16th. As the first phase of this process, enumeration forms were distributed to the 19,97,189 voters listed in the voter list as of October 27th, through polling station level officers from November 4th.
Based on the completed enumeration forms received from the voters, the draft voter list was published on the 19th for all 8 assembly constituencies in Erode district.
Following this, training for all the newly appointed additional Assistant Electoral Registration Officers for conducting inquiries in the second phase commenced on Friday at the District Collector’s office.
The training was presided over by the District Election Officer and District Collector, S. Kandasamy. Erode District Revenue Officer S. Santhakumar, Electoral Registration Officers, and the 167 newly appointed Assistant Electoral Registration Officers participated.
Eight Electoral Registration Officers and 167 Assistant Electoral Registration Officers have been appointed to conduct inquiries with 46,400 individuals whose voter entries do not match the 2002 voter list in Erode district.
The District Election Officer and District Collector provided a detailed explanation regarding the issuance of notices for inquiry to these 175 officials, uploading the inquiry notices on the website, the procedure for issuing inquiry notices, the number of inquiries to be conducted daily, the date, time, and location of the inquiry, and the duties of the additional staff appointed for the Assistant Electoral Registration Officers. A demonstration was also given on website data entry and data entry using the polling station officer’s application.
