250 tonnes of garbage cleared from Girivalam path, sanitation workers praised

Tiruvannamalai District Collector K. Tharpagaraj, I.A.S., today personally inspected the ongoing sanitation works along the Girivalam (Giri Pradakshina) Path surrounding the Arunachaleswarar Temple.
During the inspection, he appreciated the efforts of the sanitation staff and lauded them for successfully clearing around 250 tonnes of garbage from the Girivalam Path and corporation limits so
far.
Lakhs of devotees from various districts and other states had visited Tiruvannamalai for the Thirukarthigai Deepam festival held yesterday.
As today being the full moon day (Pournami), devotees continue to arrive in large numbers, following which sanitation works have been intensified across the town.
2,000 Workers Deployed for Cleanliness Drive. Since the commencement of the festival on November 21, a total of 1,200 workers from the municipality, town panchayats and district administration have been engaged in cleanliness operations. In addition, 800 sanitation workers from village panchayats have been deployed from December 1 to December 5.
In total, 2,000 sanitation workers are carrying out rotational cleaning work along the Girivalam Path and across the
town.
112 Sanitation Vehicles in Operation. As many as 112 sanitation vehicles have been pressed into service for waste removal. Officials confirmed that nearly 250 tonnes of waste have been cleared in the past few days alone.
During his interaction with the sanitation workers, the Collector advised them to strictly use the protective gloves and safety equipment provided to them.
He also inquired about their welfare, availability of food, vehicle facilities and other basic amenities.
He personally appreciated their service and encouraged them for their dedicated work.

inspection.
