Four persons from the Nazareth area in Thoothukudi district were convicted and sentenced in a 2015 POCSO case involving the sexual harassment of an 11-year-old girl.
The accused — Dinesh, son of Dharmaraj; Isakkimuthu (33), son of Murugan; Stalin (38), daughter of Seeniraj; and Aikortdurai (33), daughter of Muthuraman — were arrested by the Kulasekaranpattinam Police under the POCSO Act after the incident occurred under their station limits.
The trial was conducted at the Thoothukudi POCSO Court. Judge Preetha, who delivered the verdict yesterday (Nov. 26, 2025), sentenced all four to one year of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 2,500 each.
District SP Albert John commended then Kulasekaranpattinam Inspector Sheeja Rani for her thorough investigation. He also appreciated Public Prosecutor Janaki for effectively arguing the case, and Head Constable Murugan for assisting in the probe.
It is noteworthy that 27 POCSO cases have resulted in conviction in Thoothukudi district this year.
