Sampoornam, a resident of Vellottam Parappu, Aattukaranputhur near Kodumudi in Erode district, celebrated her 100th birthday yesterday. Her husband, Marappa Gounder, died 35 years ago. She has two sons and two daughters. They are married. Through them, the family members include grandson, granddaughter, great-grandson, granddaughter, etc greet her. About 150 people attended Sampoornam’s birthday and celebrated it by cutting a cake.
Sampoornam’s grandson Vidhun Sengannan said, “This is my father’s mother. Celebrating her 100th birthday with family and friends gave me satisfaction. Diet control and proper nutrition allowed her to live upto the age of 100,” he said. Former Minister Subbulakshmi Jagatheesan and many others congratulated her.
