5th Coimbatore district karate championship draws record participation

The 5th Coimbatore District Karate Championship–2025 witnessed record participation and energetic performances on Sunday at Kumaragurupara Kalaiyarangam, Kaumaramadalayam, Chinnavedampatti. Organised by the Coimbatore District Sports Karate Schools Association, the event highlighted the growing interest in karate among school students.
The Zen Karate School of India, led by Karthigeyan and Dharshan, extended full support and helped ensure smooth conduct of the championship.
The event was inaugurated by R. Saravanan, Deputy Superintendent of Police, and M. Ramanandham, Admin Manager of Kaumaramadalayam. S. Dinesh, Physical Director of TKS, also took part and encouraged students to focus on both academics and sports.
Chief Guest Santhosh Rajesh, Vice President of the Asian Para Throwball Federation, and Dr. V. Albert Premkumar, Founder President of the Para Throwball Federation of India, appreciated the organisers for promoting karate at the grassroots level. S. Sai Bruce, Chairman of the Organising Committee – KIO, supervised various sections and praised the technical arrangements.
Guest of Honour Dr. S. P. Chandrasekharan, specialist in Acupuncture and Varma, and Dr. R. Rangaraj of Satsvayam addressed the gathering and distributed medals and mementoes to winners.
Office-bearers of the Association — Chairman P. K. Kathiresan, President N. Karthikeyan, Secretary A. Raja & A. Selvaraj, Treasurer G. Muthu Saravanan, and committee members — coordinated the event with strong support from the Zen Karate School of India.
Organisers said the championship set new standards in discipline and performance, with parents and guests praising the efforts of the Association and all participating schools. They expressed hopes for even larger editions in the coming years.
