A 75-year-old man from Jaunpur district, Uttar Pradesh, died just a day after his second marriage, leaving villagers stunned and sparking speculation over the cause of death.
The deceased, Sangru alias Sangruram (75), was a resident of Kuchhmuchh village in Jaunpur. A farmer by profession, he had been living alone since the death of his wife last year. With no children of his own, Sangru decided to remarry despite objections from his relatives.
On Monday, he married Manbhavati (35), a widow from Jalalpur, who already has two daughters and a son. The couple first registered their marriage in court and later performed traditional rituals at a local temple. Sangru reportedly assured that he would take responsibility for Manbhavati’s children, while she would manage the household.
However, tragedy struck the very next day. Villagers said that after spending the wedding night talking at length, Sangru’s health deteriorated suddenly the following morning. He was rushed to hospital, but doctors declared him dead on arrival.
The sudden demise has created a stir in the village. His nephews, who live in Delhi, have stopped the funeral rites, insisting they will not proceed until they return. Meanwhile, questions remain over whether the police will order a post-mortem examination or launch a formal inquiry.
The exact cause of Sangru’s death has not been officially confirmed, but his sudden passing just hours after marriage has left villagers shocked and speculating on whether it was due to natural causes or other circumstances.
