A light will rise and guide us: Vijay

Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam president Vijay on Sunday asserted that social harmony would be protected “one hundred per cent” under his leadership, with no compromise on secular values.
Addressing the Equality Christmas Festival organised by the party at a private star hotel in Mamallapuram near Chennai, Vijay said love and compassion form the foundation of human life. He described Tamil Nadu as a land of motherly affection, where all people are embraced equally, irrespective of faith.
“Just as a mother sees all her children as one, our land celebrates every festival together — Pongal, Diwali, Ramadan and Christmas. Though our lifestyles and forms of worship may differ, we are all brothers,” he said.
Explaining why he openly expressed his belief in God after entering politics, Vijay said true faith nurtures harmony and teaches respect for the beliefs of others. “With faith, we gain the strength to overcome all problems,” he added.
Referring to stories from the Bible, Vijay spoke about a young man betrayed by his brothers and thrown into a pit, who later rises to become a king and saves not only those who wronged him but also his entire country. “I do not need to name the story,” he said, drawing applause.
He assured that both he and party cadres would steadfastly protect social harmony. “There will be no compromise. That is why our policy is clearly secular,” Vijay said.
Concluding his address, he said, “A light will surely be born. That light will guide us. Stay firm. Victory is certain.”
