The 353rd annual Kanduri festival, popularly known as the Chandankudu (sandalwood) festival, of Hazrat Muhammad Shah Qadri Oliullah Dargah near Nemmeli on the East Coast Road was celebrated with religious fervour on Sunday.
Noted music composer A.R. Rahman participated in the celebrations along with members of Jamaat-e-Islami and devotees.
A large number of Muslims and members of the public from Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kanchipuram, Chengalpattu, Kalpakkam, Thirukkazhukundram and Mamallapuram took part in the festival and offered prayers.
The annual event drew significant crowds, reflecting communal harmony and devotion in the region.
