Actress Radha complains over alleged Rs 46 Crore cheque fraud

Actress Radha has lodged a complaint with the Chennai Police Commissioner alleging that signed blank cheques belonging to her were taken without her knowledge and used in transactions amounting to around Rs 46 crore. She has named her sister and actress Ambika and her brother Mallikarjun Kunjun Nair in the complaint.
Radha and Ambika were prominent actresses in Tamil cinema during the 1980s and had acted opposite leading actors including Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan and Mohan.
According to the complaint, Radha maintained a current account with a private bank for business-related activities at ARS Garden Studio. She had kept some signed blank cheques in her room to meet expenses related to utility payments, taxes and garden maintenance.
In January 2025, after changing the studio’s name to RR Gardens, Radha obtained a new cheque book and stopped using the earlier one.
On September 17, Radha was reportedly alerted by her bank that five of the old cheques had been presented for encashment in Ambika’s name. Radha told the police that she had not given the cheques to Ambika and had not entered into any financial transaction with her that would require such payments.
She subsequently informed the bank and requested that the transactions be stopped.
Police are investigating the complaint, and further details are expected to emerge as the inquiry progresses.
