Actress Tamannaah appeal dismissed in Power Soap case

The Madras High Court has dismissed the appeal filed by actress Tamannaah Bhatia against a soap manufacturing company over the alleged unauthorised use of her images in advertisements.

According to the case, Tamannaah Bhatia had entered into a one-year agreement in 2008 to endorse Power Soap products. She later alleged that the company continued to use her photographs in advertisements and on websites during 2010 and 2011 even after the contract period had ended.

Seeking relief, Tamannaah Bhatia approached the High Court requesting a permanent injunction restraining the company from using her images and also sought compensation of Rs. 1 crore.

A single judge had earlier dismissed her plea, stating that the evidence produced was not reliable. Challenging this order, she filed an appeal.

A Division Bench comprising Justices P. Velmurugan and T. V. Thilagavathy upheld the earlier ruling, observing that there was no merit in the appeal and dismissed the case.
