AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami’s district-wide agitation tour drew over 50,000 supporters at Nallakaundanpalayam near Gobichettipalayam last night. During the event, party cadre Arjunan (43) of Kondayampalayam suddenly collapsed while listening to the speech on the Gobi–Sathyamangalam main
road.
He was rushed in a standby ambulance to the Gobi Government Hospital, but died on the way, reportedly due to a heart attack. Gobi police have registered a case and initiated an investigation.
Shocked by the news, Palaniswami arrived in Gobi this morning, paid floral tributes to Arjunan at the Government Hospital, and consoled the bereaved family. He handed over ₹10 lakh as immediate relief on behalf of the district unit and announced an additional ₹10 lakh from the party leadership. Former ministers, MLAs and senior party functionaries were present.
