Amateur Kickboxing Championship

A state-level kickboxing championship, organized jointly by the Tamil Nadu Amateur Kickboxing Association and the Theni District Amateur Kickboxing Association, was held at the Indoor Sports Stadium in Theni district from May 7th to May 10th. A total of 1,000 athletes—both male and female—from 24 districts across the state, including Chennai, Kanchipuram, Salem, Namakkal, Trichy, Erode, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, and the Nilgiris, participated in this event. Competitions were conducted for the participants across various categories. A contingent of 12 students from Erode district participated in the tournament, led by Mr. A. Yusuf, the General Secretary of the Erode District Kickboxing Association. The Erode district team achieved remarkable success, clinching a total of 12 medals—comprising 8 gold, 3 silver, and 3 bronze. The athletes who emerged victorious in this tournament are now set to participate in upcoming national-level competitions scheduled for the coming months. Mr. M. Rajagopal, the Erode District Sports Officer, presented certificates and prizes to the students who achieved success at the state level. Prominent figures from the sports community—including K. Sengottaiyan (Karate, Gobi), S. Mahendra Kumar (Boxing, Erode), P.3. Shankar (Silambam, Erode), and K. Mohan Raj—were present at the event. The Association’s President, Mr. K. Thennarasu, extended his congratulations to all the winners.
