Amrita Vidyalayams mark World Environment Day with Bee-Flora drive

Amrita Vidyalayam, Kalapatti, and Amrita Vidyalayam, Nallampalayam, observed World Environment Day through a Bee-Flora Planting Drive organised by AYUDH (Awaken Youth Unite for Dharma), the youth movement guided by Mata Amritanandamayi Devi.
The programme at Kalapatti was inaugurated by Radhika B. in the presence of Principal Saroja Rajalingam, while agriculturist R. Thirukumaran inaugurated the event at Nallampalayam in the presence of Principal Mangayarkarasi L.
Speakers highlighted the importance of biodiversity conservation and environmental stewardship, stressing that interaction with nature helps students develop a stronger sense of environmental responsibility.
As part of the initiative, 15 flowering saplings were planted at the Kalapatti campus to create a pollinator-friendly environment and support bees and other beneficial insects. The activity involved 178 students and volunteers. At Nallampalayam, 10 native tree species, including Magizham, Athi, Pungan and Indian Coral Tree, were identified and planted to promote biodiversity awareness. Nearly 950 students participated in the programme. Overall, more than 1,100 students and volunteers from both campuses took part in the initiative, reaffirming their commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable living.
