Renovation works for Puthu Kulam on Thirunallar Road in the Karaikal South Assembly constituency were launched on Thursday at an estimated cost of Rs. 95 lakh under the Karaikal Municipality’s AMRUT 2.0 scheme.
Legislative Assembly Member A.M.H. Nazeem kick-started the project, stating that the restoration of the pond would improve water conservation and enhance the local environment.
He also performed the bhoomi pooja for the renovation of a Community Hall in the Northpet area, to be taken up at a cost of Rs. 10 lakh by the
Municipality. Officials from the Public Works Department and the Municipality participated in the event. Among those present were Assistant Engineer Veluchamy of the Public Works Department, Municipal Executive Engineer Muthushivam, Assistant Engineer Loganathan and Junior Engineer Sathiya Balan.
Local residents and prominent members of the area attended the programme and welcomed the development initiatives aimed at strengthening civic infrastructure in the constituency.
