Due to the conflict of opinion between father and son in the Pattali Makkal Katchi, the party is functioning in two factions. Anbumani Ramadoss’ side has been continuously claiming that it has the support of more than 95 percent of the district secretaries and district leaders. In this situation, the Election Commission had also announced that the PMK is officially functioning under the leadership of Anbumani. Due to this, the Ramadoss side filed a case against the Election Commission in the Delhi High Court. But the High Court has also issued an order in favor of Anbumani. This has shocked Ramadoss. He is also preparing to approach the Supreme Court. In addition, the Chief Election Commission has also dropped a big bombshell that if the conflict between the two factions of the PMK continues during the election time, the Mango symbol will be blocked. This has also shocked Anbumani.
Usually, in such an internal party conflict, it leads to a situation where both sides are allotted separate party names and different symbols. Basically, the symbol does not belong to the parties. The symbol belongs to the Election Commission. The Election Commission grants the right of use. It grants the right of use to a party on a conditional basis after registration or permanently if it gets a certain percentage of votes after registration. So, the symbol for the PMK is mango. But, they have lost recognition.
In the current situation, the PMK is only a registered party. In such an environment, two sides are claiming the right to be a registered party. Both sides are presenting different documents. The Ramadoss side is saying that the document of Anbumani’s side is fake. In this situation, the Election Commission should call both the sides with the documents. But the Commission did not do so from the beginning. A decision should not be taken without hearing the other side. The Election Commission took a decision in favour of Anbumani’s side without hearing Dr. Ramadoss’s side. There is a suspicion that the Election Commission is acting unilaterally in their case.
However, the Election Commission is with PMK Anbumani as per court orders. In this situation, the sudden meeting of Opposition Leader Edappadi Palaniswami by Anbumani’s party yesterday has created a stir. This meeting is considered important as the BJP and AIADMK have been continuously saying that some parties will join the National Democratic Alliance. It is reported that the PMK has called on the AIADMK to participate in the protest demanding the caste census of the PMK to be held on December 17.
If the PMK invites Edappadi Palaniswami to the protest they are going to hold before the elections, it cannot be dismissed as there are no chances of an alliance. Anbumani, who has taken up politics against the DMK, is certain to form an alliance with the opposition. The protest call reveals that his choice is the AIADMK & BJP alliance.
