Anish and Monick Santhosh emerged winners in the district-level men’s doubles badminton tournament held at Tamil Badminton Academy in Pannimadai near Thudiyalur in Coimbatore.
The annual tournament was conducted under floodlights at the indoor court of the academy, with 32 teams from across Coimbatore district participating in the men’s doubles category. The tournament was inaugurated by Tamil Badminton Academy founder and coach Tamilazhagan.
Anish and Monick Santhosh secured the first place and received a cash prize of Rs.5,000 along with the winners’ trophy. Tirupati and Pragadheesh finished second and received Rs.2,500 and a trophy.
Vignesh and Ravikumar secured third place and received Rs.1,000 and a trophy, while Sanjay and Rohit finished fourth and were presented with a trophy.
At the prize distribution ceremony, Water Supply and Drainage Board Superintendent Jaganathan, Congress block president P. T. Mohanraj and former councillor Gopalasamy presented the prizes.
Medals were also presented to referees Aarthi, Rajshree and Rasini and volunteers Chandran, Kanika, Prakasan, Rasan and Diya. Manikandan, Praveen and Abuthahir, who donated the prizes, were honoured with mementoes. Rajendran, Kumudham, Meganisha and others participated.
