Arabian Sea Low Pressure Boost Rains Across Tamil Nadu

The India Meteorological Department has indicated the likelihood of a low-pressure area forming over the southeast Arabian Sea during the second week of May, raising prospects of increased rainfall activity in
Tamil Nadu.
According to meteorological observations, such systems forming over the Arabian Sea during May often bring significant rainfall to regions along the Western Ghats, including parts of Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
Officials said it remains to be seen whether the developing system will intensify into a depression or a cyclone in the coming days.
Meanwhile, an atmospheric trough extending at an altitude of about 0.9 km from south interior Karnataka to the Gulf of Mannar across Tamil Nadu is influencing current weather conditions.
Due to these developments, heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places in districts including the Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Theni, Dindigul and Erode, the weather department said.
