Auto rally flags off 100 percent voting drive in Coimbatore South

A large-scale voter awareness campaign was launched in the 120 Coimbatore South Assembly Constituency on Thursday, with District Election Officer and District Collector Pawankumar K. Kiriyappanavar inaugurating the initiative at VOC Grounds by affixing awareness stickers on autorickshaws and flagging them off to promote 100 per cent voting in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly General Elections 2026.
Commissioner of Police N. Kannan, Additional Collector (Development) Sangeth Balwant Wage, Regional Transport Officer Viswanathan, Personal Assistant (Elections) Maheshwari, Tahsildar (Elections) Thanigaivel, senior police officials and others participated in the event.
As part of the awareness drive, over 80 autorickshaws decorated with voter awareness stickers were flagged off from VOC Grounds. The rally passed through key locations including LIC, Women’s Polytechnic College, Gandhipuram, Semmozhi Park and VOC Park before returning to the starting point, spreading the message of compulsory voting among the public.
The District Election Officer, along with officials, also took part in promotional activities at a selfie point set up at the venue to emphasise the importance of voting.
Later, inspections were carried out at the Election Control Room, District Communication Centre and Media Certification and Monitoring Committee Centre at the District Collectorate, where the functioning and preparedness of election-related operations were reviewed.
