The Department of Hindi, School of Arts and Social Sciences, Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science and Higher Education for Women, organised a one-day seminar on Prayojanmoolak Hindi and Banking Hindi here on Thursday.
Presiding over the programme, Vice-Chancellor Dr Bharathi Harishankar said that language is as essential and universal as the air people breathe and shared how Hindi had complemented her professional journey. Delivering the inaugural address, Vriddhi Chand Kumawat, Assistant General Manager and Deputy Zonal Head, UCO Bank, Coimbatore, highlighted the importance of Hindi as an official language and outlined the wide range of employment opportunities available in central government sectors.
A special lecture was delivered by Dr N Chandrasekar, former Sub Divisional Engineer (Official Language), BSNL, Salem, who elaborated on the nature, scope and significance of Prayojanmoolak Hindi in administration and professional communication.
Dr Shashi Prabha Jain, Dean, School of Arts and Social Sciences, and Professor and Head, Department of Hindi, welcomed the gathering during the inaugural session.
In the afternoon session, Pavan Kumar, Assistant Manager, Official Language, Mallika, Chief Manager, Aswati, Official Language Officer, and Akash Mohanty, Assistant General Manager, UCO Bank, Zonal Office, Coimbatore, spoke in detail on the role of official language Hindi in banking, along with various banking schemes and customer benefits.
The speakers were introduced by Dr Shanthi, Professor, Department of Hindi, while the vote of thanks was proposed by Gandhimathi, Assistant Professor, Department of Hindi.
The seminar witnessed active participation from about 100 students of the School of Arts and Social Sciences.
