Avinashilingam University hosts International quantum meet

Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science and Higher Education for Women organised a two-day International Conference on Quantum Computing, Emerging Technologies and Cyber Security (QCETCS 2026) in collaboration with IR2M, Faculty of Sciences and Techniques, Hassan I University, Settat, Morocco.
The conference was jointly organised by the Department of Computer Science, Centre for Machine Learning and Intelligence, Centre for Cyber Intelligence and the Department of Information Technology under the School of Physical Sciences and Computational Sciences.
Vice-Chancellor Dr. V. Bharathi Harishankar, in her presidential address, said quantum computing would enable faster and more precise processing of complex and large datasets. She noted that Artificial Intelligence would transform job roles rather than replace the workforce and stressed the importance of capacity building and a multidisciplinary approach to leverage AI effectively at institutional and national levels.
Dr. Aawatif Hayar, Strategic Advisor at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University, Scientific Advisor to Casablanca Smart City and former Minister of Solidarity, Social Integration and Family, Morocco, in her felicitation message, said greater participation of women in scientific research would lead to more ethical and socially responsive technological solutions.
Delivering the keynote address on “Quantum Computing – Prospects and Challenges,” Dr. Kunal Abhishek, Scientist ‘E’ and Head, Cyber Security and Forensics Group, C-DAC, Patna, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India, highlighted advances in cryptography, drug discovery and optimisation.
Dr. Mo Medwani, Founder and Chief Data Scientist and AI Engineer, InnovatiCS, Capitol Technology University, USA, spoke on responsible LLM security, governance and operational defence. Dr. V. Radha, Dean, presided, and Dr. B. Kalpana, Professor and Head, Department of Computer Science, proposed the vote of thanks.
