Baby snake rescued from glue trap

A baby viper that got stuck in adhesive glue inside a mobile phone shop was rescued and released into the wild in Thaliparamba in Kerala’s Kannur district.
The incident occurred at a cellphone accessories store on Thaliparamba Market Road. When a customer visited the shop to purchase a screen protector, an employee opened a drawer containing screen guard cards. To their shock, a small viper was found alive inside, trapped in the sticky glue of a screen protector card.
Unable to move as its body was stuck to the adhesive surface, the snake struggled to free itself. The shop staff immediately alerted the Forest Department in Thaliparamba.
Forest officials, along with a trained snake catcher, rushed to the spot and began efforts to rescue the reptile without causing injury. Initial attempts using coconut oil to loosen the adhesive did not succeed as the snake’s body was firmly stuck to the glue. The snake, along with the screen protector card, was carefully transported to the Thaliparamba Forest Range Office. After sustained and delicate efforts, officials managed to safely separate the baby snake from the adhesive surface without harming it.
The rescued snake was later released into a nearby forest area. The swift and humane action of the Forest Department in saving the tiny reptile has been widely appreciated by the public.
