In a shocking revelation, a Bengaluru-based surgeon confessed to killing his wife in a message sent to his former girlfriend through a digital payment app, police officials said.
According to investigators, Dr. Mahendra Reddy G.S. (31), a surgeon living in Marathahalli, was married to Dr. Kruthika M. Reddy (28), a dermatologist, on May 26, 2024. On April 23, 2025, Kruthika suddenly collapsed at their residence and later died under suspicious circumstances.
During the post-mortem, forensic tests on Kruthika’s blood and organ samples revealed traces of Propofol, a strong anesthetic drug commonly used during surgeries. Based on the forensic findings, the Marathahalli Police registered a murder case and arrested Mahendra Reddy on October 14. Police examination of his mobile phone revealed that two weeks after Kruthika’s death, Mahendra sent a disturbing message to his ex-girlfriend, who was his former classmate in medical college, saying: “I killed my wife for you.”
Sources said the woman had blocked him on WhatsApp and Facebook, following which he used a digital money transfer app to send the message. Investigators also found that Mahendra had sent similar messages to four or five other women through WhatsApp and Telegram.
Officials suspect that Mahendra’s obsession with his ex-girlfriend may have been the motive behind the murder.
He remains in judicial custody as police continue to examine his phone data, financial transactions, and communications to determine the full sequence of events leading to the crime.
