Bengaluru Tragedy: Man Kills Wife Over Work Dispute, Dies by Suicide

A shocking murder-suicide took place in Jnana Bharathi police limits of Bengaluru, where a 29-year-old man fatally stabbed his wife and later took his own life after repeated quarrels over her going to work.

The accused, Dharmaseelan (29), a native of Pinnalavadi village in Kallakurichi district, Tamil Nadu, had been living with his wife Manju (28) at Press Layout, Ullal Main Road, Bengaluru. The couple, who married three years ago after a love affair, had recently returned to the city from Tamil Nadu just three days before the incident.

According to police, Dharmaseelan previously worked as a painter in Dubai before moving back to India. He reportedly objected to Manju taking up employment and frequently quarreled with her, often under the influence of alcohol.

On September 28, a heated argument turned fatal when Dharmaseelan stabbed Manju eight times with a knife inside their rented house. Manju died instantly. Overcome by guilt or fear, he later hanged himself from a ceiling fan.

The grim scene was discovered when Manju’s father, Periyasamy, visited the house and alerted authorities. The Jnana Bharathi police have registered a case and are probing the sequence of events that led to the double tragedy.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the locality of Ullal Main Road, highlighting once again the dangers of domestic violence and unresolved marital conflicts.
