The Centre of Excellence in Life Sciences at PSGR Krishnammal College for Women organised a two-day DBT-CTEP-sponsored National Conference, BioE3-2026, on the theme “Sustainable Innovations for Entrepreneurship, Healthcare, Climate Action and Circular Economy” on August 5 and 6.
The conference brought together scientists, academicians, industry experts, entrepreneurs, research scholars and students to discuss the role of biotechnology in promoting sustainable development and strengthening India’s bioeconomy. The event served as a platform for academia, research institutions and industry to exchange knowledge and explore innovative solutions for healthcare, climate action and the circular economy.
The inaugural session was presided over by Dr. P. B. Harathi, Principal of PSGR Krishnammal College for Women. She highlighted the importance of research, innovation and interdisciplinary collaboration in addressing societal and environmental challenges.
Delivering the keynote address, Prof. D. Sundar, Director and Biocon Chair, Institute of Bioinformatics and Applied Biotechnology (IBAB), Bengaluru, underscored the significance of the BioE3 vision in fostering entrepreneurship, healthcare, environmental sustainability and employment generation through biotechnology-driven innovations.
Resource persons from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), CSIR–National Institute of Oceanography, Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences, Bharathidasan University, Kerala Startup Mission, ICMR and the biotechnology industry shared insights into recent advances in biotechnology and the circular bioeconomy.
The conference featured technical sessions on bioeconomy, healthcare biotechnology, environmental biotechnology, food biotechnology, industrial biotechnology, innovation, incubation and entrepreneurship. Researchers presented their work through oral and poster presentations, encouraging scientific interaction and collaborative research.
The conference concluded with a valedictory session during which certificates and awards were presented to the winners of the best oral and poster presentation categories. More than 300 students from universities, colleges, research institutions and industries participated in the two-day event, making it a successful platform for knowledge sharing and scientific collaboration in sustainable biotechnology.
