In a heartbreaking incident, a 17-year-old student from Lucknow lost his life after the Bullet bike he had received as a birthday gift from his father collided with a private bus in the city’s Aishbagh area.
The deceased has been identified as Vaibhav Jha, a Class 11 student of Stella Maris Inter College, and the only son of Santosh Kumar, a practicing lawyer from Lucknow.
According to police reports, Santosh Kumar had promised to buy his son a bike if he performed well in his studies.
Keeping his word, he gifted Vaibhav a Royal Enfield Bullet on his 17th birthday, just three weeks ago.
On Sunday morning around 7 a.m., Vaibhav went out for a ride with his friend on the newly gifted
bike.
As they reached the Aishbagh–Ashiyana stretch, a private bus coming from the opposite direction reportedly lost control and rammed into their
motorcycle.
The impact was severe, throwing both Vaibhav and his friend onto the
road.
Bystanders rushed to their aid and took them to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared Vaibhav Jha dead on arrival.
His friend, who sustained multiple injuries, is currently receiving treatment in the intensive care
unit.
Police officials from the Ashiyana police station reached the scene, seized the bus, and arrested the driver, who had allegedly tried to flee after the
accident.
Preliminary investigations suggest rash and negligent driving as the cause of the accident.
The sudden death of the teenager, who had only recently begun to enjoy his long-awaited birthday gift, has left his family and community in deep shock. Police have registered a case and are conducting further inquiries.
