A scheme to provide breakfast to sanitation workers employed in the Kottakuppam Municipality, located near Puducherry, was launched on Monday following its State-level inauguration by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin.
The Chief Minister formally launched the breakfast scheme for sanitation workers serving in municipalities across Tamil Nadu through video conferencing from the Chennai Secretariat. Following the State launch, a local programme was organised at a private marriage hall near the Kottakuppam Municipality, where the live telecast of the Chief Minister’s address was viewed on a large screen.
After the telecast, Kottakuppam Municipal Chairman S.S. Jayamoorthy presided over the function and formally inaugurated the breakfast distribution scheme by lighting the ceremonial lamp. Municipal Commissioner Balamurugan, Municipal Engineer Ravikumar, municipal council members, DMK city executives, municipal officials and staff, along with a large number of sanitation workers, participated in the event.
In a gesture of solidarity, Chairman S.S. Jayamoorthy, Commissioner Balamurugan, municipal council members and officials sat and shared breakfast with the sanitation workers. The event arrangements were efficiently coordinated by the municipal officials and staff under the leadership of Commissioner Balamurugan.
Sanitation workers of the Kottakuppam Municipality expressed their gratitude to Chief Minister M.K. Stalin for introducing the breakfast scheme, stating that the initiative would greatly support their daily work and wellbeing.
