Bride killed in road accident near Thirumanur

A young woman preparing for her wedding was killed in a road accident near Thirumanur in Ariyalur district on Monday, triggering shock and grief in the locality.
The deceased was identified as Jennifer, a resident of Channavur Melatheru village near Thirumanur. She was employed at the Thirumanur Post Office.
Police said Jennifer was riding her two-wheeler from her residence to the post office in the morning when a Tata Ace goods vehicle travelling on the same road collided with her vehicle.
Jennifer sustained severe injuries in the impact and died on the spot due to excessive bleeding, police said.
Sources said her engagement was scheduled to take place in two days, with her wedding planned for January.
News of the tragic accident has cast a pall of gloom over the village and surrounding areas.
Police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances leading to the accident.
