Four college students were killed and three others seriously injured after the car in which they were travelling met with an accident near Madurantakam on the Chennai–Trichy National Highway.
The seven students, from a private college in Chennai, had gone on a trip to Puducherry and were returning to Chennai by car. When the vehicle was nearing Madurantakam, its rear tyre suddenly burst.
The driver lost control of the car following the tyre burst, causing the vehicle to veer across the road and crash.
Four students died in the accident, while three others sustained serious injuries. Police and rescue teams rushed to the spot after receiving information and rescued the injured students.
The injured students were taken to government hospitals in Chengalpattu and Madurantakam, where they are undergoing treatment.
