Mambalam Police have registered a case against Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam leader Vijay for alleged violation of the Model Code of Conduct during an election campaign in the city.
According to police, Vijay conducted campaign events at T. Nagar, Thousand Lights and Egmore on Wednesday, drawing large crowds at multiple locations. His campaign vehicle reached Muthurangan Road in T. Nagar around 4.10 p.m., where a significant number of people had gathered.
Officials said Vijay addressed the public in support of party candidates contesting in T. Nagar, Thousand Lights and Egmore constituencies and also carried out a roadshow to seek votes.
Based on a complaint filed by Election Flying Squad Officer Santosh Kumar, police registered a case under relevant sections for allegedly organising a meeting in violation of permitted conditions, conducting an unauthorised roadshow, and causing disruption to traffic and the general public.
In connection with the incident, cases have also been registered against T. Nagar constituency candidate Pussy Anand and South Chennai district secretary Appunu.
