Chief Minister Vijay likely to visit Meenakshi Amman temple on September 28

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay is expected to visit the Meenakshi Amman Temple in Madurai on September 28 during his visit to the city for the launch of the Thaimaman Thanga Mothiram scheme.
Under the scheme, one-gram gold rings will be provided to children born in government hospitals. The scheme covers children born from June 22, 2026. The launch, initially planned for Usilampatti Government Hospital, has reportedly been shifted to Government Rajaji Hospital in Madurai. Preparatory works are under way at Government Rajaji Hospital ahead of the Chief Minister’s visit. Roads on the hospital campus are being repaired, damaged portions of buildings are being attended to and sanitation works are being carried out. Officials are also taking steps to clear waste from the hospital premises and remove encroachments on roads surrounding the hospital. Arrangements are being coordinated by the district administration, corporation and police to ensure that the programme does not inconvenience patients. Collector Nishanth Krishna, Corporation Commissioner Gaurav Kumar, Police Commissioner Rajendran, Government Rajaji Hospital Dean Arul Sundares Kumar and other officials have been holding discussions on the arrangements.
Meanwhile, Vijay is reportedly planning to visit the Meenakshi Amman Temple, where the consecration ceremony was held on September 17 after a gap of 17 years. Police officials are also reviewing security arrangements covering the airport, Government Rajaji Hospital and the temple. Additional police personnel from other districts may be deployed if required.
Officials are discussing traffic and crowd-control measures, including the installation of barricades along the routes expected to be used by the Chief Minister. Police officials said comprehensive security arrangements at the temple would be finalised after receiving official communication regarding the Chief Minister’s visit from the Chennai DGP office.
