The Coimbatore Zonal Level competitions of the Chief Minister’s Cup 2025 for boys and girls were successfully conducted at KPR College of Arts, Science and Research today. The weightlifting event, which began on September 9, saw enthusiastic participation from more than a hundred school and college students representing Salem, Namakkal, Erode, Tiruppur, Nilgiris, and Coimbatore districts. Presiding over the function, college president Dr. K. P. Ramasamy and principal Dr. P. Geetha expressed their delight at the student turnout.
They observed that the encouragement of parents plays a major role in motivating youngsters to enter sports, while such competitions also help strengthen both physical fitness and mental health.
Dignitaries who graced the occasion included Mr. Aruna from the Department of Youth and Sports Management, Mrs. Bhuvaneswari, District Sports Officer, and Mr. P. Vadivelu, General Secretary of the Tamil Nadu Weightlifting Federation. They presented prizes to the winning athletes and praised the competitive spirit of the participants.
The event was smoothly coordinated under the guidance of the college’s Physical Education Director, K. Tamilarasi, ensuring an inspiring sporting experience for all involved.
