Childlessness triggers fatal fight, farmer kills wife

A domestic dispute over childlessness turned fatal after a farmer allegedly strangled his wife to death at Nilingal village in Belagavi district of Karnataka.

The deceased, Rajeshwari, aged 21, had been married to Phakirappa, 28, for the past three years. Police said the couple had no children, which often led to frequent arguments between them.

On Thursday, Rajeshwari planned to visit her mother’s house to see her ailing brother. Her husband reportedly opposed the visit, leading to a heated quarrel inside their house.

In a fit of rage, Phakirappa allegedly strangled Rajeshwari with a rope, killing her on the spot. The incident came to light after locals alerted the police.

Police rushed to the scene, arrested the accused, and sent him to judicial custody. A murder case has been registered, and further investigation is in progress.
