A tragic fire broke out in a residential building in Shantou City, located in Chaoyang District of Guangdong Province in southern China, claiming the lives of 12
people.
The fire, which spread gradually, eventually engulfed nearly 150 square metres inside the building. Firefighters rushed to the spot after receiving an alert and fought the flames for about 40 minutes before bringing the situation under control.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
This incident comes just a week after a devastating fire in Hong Kong, where more than 140 people died, raising fresh concerns over fire safety in high-density urban areas.
