CM reviews Cooum river restoration, development plans

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay on Tuesday held a review meeting at the Secretariat in Chennai on the preparation of a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Cooum river restoration project and development works along the river
course.
According to an official release, Mr. Vijay reviewed the progress of work on preparing the DPR for the Cooum river restoration project. He also reviewed various facilities proposed under the project and the process of inviting global tenders to ensure international technical expertise and
standards.
As an initial step, a study was undertaken to prepare a concept plan and an action plan for the restoration and development of the Cooum in a select three-kilometre stretch to create walkways, cycle tracks, viewing decks, green spaces, and environmental improvement measures.
Mr. Vijay discussed these plans with officials and directed them to chalk out a plan to take forward the Cooum restoration project in multiple phases through an integrated and sustainable approach.
Chief Secretary M. Sai Kumar; Additional Chief Secretary, Municipal Administration and Water Supply, Gagandeep Singh Bedi; Additional Chief Secretary, Finance, M.A. Siddique; and officials participated in the review meeting.
