Chief Minister M.K. Stalin today presented the annual Child Welfare and Service Awards to select institutions operating under the Directorate of Child Welfare and Special Services, as announced earlier by the Social Welfare Department in the Legislative
Assembly.
In the Government Children’s Homes category, the Thanjavur Annai Sathya Ammaiyar Memorial Government Children’s Home received the award.
The Thoothukudi St. Marianne Karunai Home was honoured in the category of Children’s Homes run by voluntary
organisations.
The Chennai Government Vision Home was recognised under the category of Homes for Children deemed to have acted contrary to the law, while the Ramanathapuram District Child Protection Unit won the award in the District Child Protection Unit category.
Along with the awards, the Chief Minister presented cheques of Rs. 1 lakh each to the winning institutions as prize money. Minister Geetha Jeevan, Chief Secretary N. Muruganantham, Social Welfare Secretary Jaya Srimuralitharan, and Director of Child Welfare and Special Services Shilpa Prabhakar Sathish participated in the event, according to a press release from the Tamil Nadu government.
