Chief Minister M K Stalin on Sunday launched a scheme to provide e-scooters at subsidised prices to workers registered with the Tamil Nadu Internet-based Gig Workers Welfare Board.
The scheme was inaugurated at the Thiruvuthidal campus here, where the Chief Minister flagged off the distribution of e-scooters to 100 gig workers on behalf of the Labour Welfare and Skill Development Department. The initiative aims to support internet-based gig workers by improving their mobility and livelihood opportunities.
On the same occasion, the Chief Minister also flagged off 155 new vehicles for the Revenue Administration and Disaster Management Department. The vehicles, comprising Mahindra Bolero B4 AC BS-VI models, have been procured at a total cost of Rs. 13.73 crore.
The new vehicles will be utilised by officers of the Revenue Administration and Disaster Management Commissionerate, including Sub-Collectors, Deputy Collectors and Taluk Magistrates, to strengthen field-level administration and disaster response activities across the State.
