CM Vijay announces Rs 3 Lakh relief for families of Mannargudi accident victims

Chief Minister Vijay has expressed deep grief over the death of three school students in a road accident near Mannargudi in Tiruvarur district and announced financial assistance for the affected families.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Chief Minister said he was shocked and saddened to learn about the accident that occurred near the Government Higher Secondary School on the Karakkottai Main Road in Mannargudi taluk at around 4.40 pm.
The students, identified as Yogeswaran (12), son of Murugesan, Rachith (12), son of Mukesh, and Rajamurali (12), son of Ramesh, were returning home from school when a Tavera vehicle allegedly rammed into them.
One student died on the spot, while the other two succumbed to their injuries while being taken to hospital.
Expressing his condolences to the bereaved families, Vijay announced a relief assistance of Rs 3 lakh each from the Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund to the families of the deceased students.
The Chief Minister also directed officials to provide specialised treatment to Hrithik (11), son of Nagalraj, who sustained injuries in the accident. He announced financial assistance of Rs 50,000 from the relief fund for the injured student.
The tragic incident has cast a pall of gloom over the locality and sparked concern over road safety near educational institutions.
