Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam president C. Joseph Vijay arrived at Coimbatore airport on Wednesday for his campaign in the Dharapuram Assembly constituency.
More than 1,500 police personnel were deployed in Coimbatore as part of the security arrangements for his visit. A large number of TVK cadres and members of the public gathered along Avinashi Road and near the airport entrance to welcome Vijay. Police erected barricades to regulate the movement of the crowd and vehicles.
As Vijay left the airport in his vehicle, supporters and members of the public gathered along the route raised slogans in support of TVK. Vijay waved to the people from inside the vehicle as he proceeded towards Dharapuram by road.
The TVK cadres continued to raise slogans as Vijay passed through the route. He later proceeded towards Dharapuram for the scheduled election campaign.
