Coimbatore Collector Inspects Counting Centre Preparations

District Collector and District Election Officer Pavankumar G. Giriyappanavar, IAS, on April 20, 2026 personally inspected the preparatory works at Government College of Technology, the designated counting centre for the Assembly General Elections in Coimbatore district.
During the inspection, Pavankumar G. Giriyappanavar reviewed the arrangements being made to handle the counting process for all Assembly constituencies in the district.
Corporation Commissioner Siva Guruprabhakaran, IAS, and other officials accompanied the Collector during the inspection.
As per the directions of the Election Commission of India, voting machines used in the Assembly constituencies of Mettupalayam, Sulur, Kaundampalayam, Coimbatore North, Thondamuthur, Coimbatore South, Singanallur, Kinathukadavu, Pollachi and Valparai will be transported under tight security to the counting centre at Government College of Technology.
The Collector instructed officials to ensure the installation of CCTV cameras at key locations including counting halls, postal ballot storage areas and the strong rooms. He also reviewed the establishment of control centres and other essential infrastructure facilities required for the counting process.
Officials were advised to strictly adhere to election guidelines and ensure foolproof security arrangements for the safe handling of electronic voting machines and related materials.
The inspection forms part of the district administration’s efforts to ensure smooth, secure and transparent counting of votes for the upcoming elections scheduled on April 23, 2026.
