Dr. V. Samuthirakani, Divisional Engineer (Highways), Special Projects Division, Coimbatore, was honoured with a special shield at the national conference “BRIDGE 2025 – Bridge Engineering In Viksit Bharat @ 2047,” held in Chennai.
The conference was organised by the Indian Institution of Bridge Engineers in association with IIT Madras and witnessed participation from leading bridge engineering experts from across the country.
During a technical session on Accelerated Bridge Construction, Dr. Samuthirakani presented a detailed paper on the execution of a 10.1-km urban elevated corridor in a dense city environment. His presentation focused on the design features, construction methodology and challenges involved in the ongoing Avinashi Road (G.D. Naidu Road) Flyover project in Coimbatore. The paper highlighted innovative engineering practices adopted in the project, which is among the longest elevated corridors in Tamil Nadu. The presentation drew wide appreciation from national-level bridge experts and members of the Indian Institution of Bridge Engineers. In recognition of his significant contribution to bridge engineering and urban infrastructure development, Dr. Samuthirakani was presented with a commemorative shield by the IIBE leadership at the conference.
